Youth Shoots
19 Nov 2024On Thursday, 14th November, Youth Shoots delivered a comprehensive training session to a group of Year 7-10 students. The primary aim of the day was to equip each participant with the confidence to open up conversations on emotional health and well-being. The session also focused on providing students with tools to build resilience in facing daily challenges that may negatively impact their mental health, and on fostering the use of realistic coping strategies. As a result, students are now better prepared to develop into confident speakers and organisers, aligning with the school's Anti-Bullying and Junior Leadership Team ethos.

Walk for Humanity
01 Oct 2024On Saturday, 5th October, Barking Abbey JLT, accompanied by Headteacher Mr. Roe, participated in the 5k Walk for Humanity charity event. The weather was kind, and the JLT met early in the morning, traveling to Archbishop's Park, where they joined a samba warm-up. From there, they set off on their 5k walk, passing iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, the London Dungeons, the National Film Theatre, Sea Life Aquarium, and many more famous London sights. It's fair to say that the JLT would not have won the 5k race, but that was because we took the time to appreciate the beauty of London and truly enjoyed the walk, as the photos show.

GCSE Results Day
22 Aug 2024Last week we celebrated our amazing sixth form results and the fact that we had improved on our 2023 results in every measure in spite of the higher grade boundaries. Today we celebrate achieving the ‘double’ with improvements at every level at GCSE compared to 2023. Like all schools we were expecting our 2024 results to be lower than last year as the exam boards have reduced the number of pupils getting each grade and made achieving the top grades even harder. To find that our amazing young people have improved on 2023 in every measure is outstanding.

10 Jul 2024Our Barking Abbey musicians made us proud again with a stellar performance in this summer's concert. The evening was rife with bass, treble and highs and, not least, cheering and applause. Between the three bands, orchestra and the vocal group, few genres were left unchecked. This year we also showcased the impressive Year 9 film music projects, so who knows what will be next.
