Ofsted - Outstanding in every category
On behalf of our entire school community, we are really proud to share with you the final report from our most recent Ofsted inspection.
As you can see, they have judged Barking Abbey School to be Outstanding in every category. This is huge achievement for all of us in the community and one that we can all be proud of. Our community has been through a lot over the past years and this is something we can all celebrate.
A few highlights from the report;
- This is a large and diverse school where difference is valued.
- Pupils are respectful and listen to opposing viewpoints. Pupils’ conduct is exemplary, both inside lessons and around the school.
- Pupils report no concerns about bullying and know that any issues will be dealt with swiftly by staff.
- Leaders have designed a highly ambitious curriculum for all pupils. Teachers have excellent knowledge of the subjects that they deliver.
- Pupils’ work is consistently of high quality.
- Routines and expectations are in place which lead to a calm and purposeful learning environment.
- Staff are well trained and supported to ensure pupils with SEND access the same ambitious curriculum as their peers wherever possible.
Our work, as always, continues. We are still pushing to increase the opportunities for our pupils in and out of school, we are still putting character education at the heart of all we do and we will still keep pushing pupils to achieve beyond their dreams. In this way we are living up to the founding motto 102 years ago of ‘Give and expect the best’ each and every day.
