The Jack Petchey evening was a truly unforgettable experience for all the prize winners and attendees. From the moment the compere took to the stage, the audience was fully engaged and encouraged to participate in the celebration. The atmosphere was electric, and the excitement in the room was palpable.

As the Barking Abbey prize-winning students gathered in the foyer before the event, they were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet with the newly elected Mayor of Barking and Dagenham, Cllr Faruk Choudhury, and Cllr Kangethe Cabinet member for Educational Attainment & School Improvement. It was an incredible honor for them to meet these influential members of the community and to be recognized for their achievements.

All schools and colleges in the borough were represented at the event, and the support from teachers, representatives, and parents was overwhelming. As the compere began to read out the nominated statements of each student winner and staff leader winner, the audience was completely captivated. The level of detail provided about each winner was impressive, and it was evident that they were all deserving of the recognition.

One of the most significant aspects of the Jack Petchey evening was the sense of community that was created. Everyone in the auditorium gave applause and listened intently to the compere as they read out the detailed statements. It was a moment that brought everyone together, united in their admiration for the winners and the legacy of Jack Petchey.

Throughout the evening, photographs were taken by a professional photographer, capturing the excitement and joy of the event. However, it wasn't just the professionals who were taking photos. Everyone in attendance had a camera or smartphone at the ready, eager to capture their own memories of the evening.

The celebration was not only about recognising the winners of the Jack Petchey award, but it was also an opportunity to bring the community together. The event was followed by a guest singer, and the local police constabulary also made an appearance. The organiser of the event read out a meaningful saying that Jack Petchey was known for:

‘If you think you can, you can!"
