An incredible season ended in 3 of our young student athletes signing for 3 different professional clubs.

Jack Turner

Essex-born Turner had captained Abbey at youth level including against Southend United in the FA Youth Cup last term.

Now having officially joined the Club, Turner said: “I’m delighted to be signing for a big Club like Burnley, one which has fantastic facilities and staff to help me develop.

“Having got to know all of the lads around the place over the last couple of weeks, I’m looking forward to working hard now, and improving every day.”

Jack still managed to crucially complete his BTEC Sport and A-level Business education at Barking Abbey Before Moving into his passion of becoming a full-time professional footballer.

Peter Angelov

Peter Angelov signed for Championship club Queens Park Rangers after initially signing as a non-contract player and travelling to QPR on day release from Barking Abbey.

Coach Emberson initially sent Peter to compete in a competition that was celebrating 150 years of the FA cup with our partnership club Upton Park FC. A QPR scout was present and asked if Peter would like to come on trial.

Peter has now signed a professional contract for QPR. We are delighted that Peter also still managed to complete his A-levels at Barking Abbey and graduated with A-levels in English, Physical Education and Religious studies.

Euan Mutale

Euan Mutale completed a whole year at Barking Abbey Football Abbey before Coach Emberson recommended that Sutton United should allow at Euan Mutale to trial.

Mutale done so well, Sutton United and Barking Abbey agreed to allowing a two-day release to enable Euan to develop both his education (A-levels) and his football.

Euan went on to be the EFL U19 Leagues Top Goal Scorer With 18 Goals. Euan was eventually offered a professional contract from Sutton United. However, Euan declined their offer and decided to sign a 2-year professional contract with Scottish championship club Dundee FC. Euan also managed to complete his A-levels in Maths, Economics and Biology.
