Black History Month
Last half term, Barking Abbey School proudly celebrated Black History Month with a vibrant and heartfelt showcase that brought our school community together in the spirit of creativity, unity, and cultural pride.
Students from across the school took to the stage to share their incredible talents through a wide variety of performances, from powerful speeches and soulful singing to captivating dance routines and live instrumental performances. Each act reflected the rich cultural heritage, resilience, and achievements of the Black community, both past and present.
The evening was hosted entirely by our students, who dedicated countless hours rehearsing and preparing to ensure the event was a success. Their confidence, professionalism, and passion shone through, making the showcase an unforgettable experience for everyone in attendance.
Thanks to the generosity of our audience and supporters, we were able to raise a significant amount of money, which will be donated to two important causes: the Sickle Cell charity, and support efforts for the recent disaster in Jamaica.
The event was not only a celebration of history and culture but also a demonstration of compassion and community spirit, values at the heart of Barking Abbey School.
A huge thank you to all the students, staff, and families who contributed to making this year’s Black History Month Showcase such a success. We couldn’t be prouder of our talented young people!
