Young Mayor of Barking & Dagenham

We are thrilled to share that a Year 13 student at Barking Abbey, has been elected as the Young Mayor of Barking and Dagenham for 2025/26!

As one of our own, we couldn’t be prouder of her for earning this prestigious role. She is truly dedicated, putting her heart into everything she does, and this recognition is well deserved.

She has been actively involved in numerous charity and fundraising initiatives for both our school and the local community. She has volunteered extensively, serves as a student ambassador, an eco-warrior, a Sixth Form council member, and has taken on just about every opportunity available! Also, as a dedicated member of the borough’s Youth Forum for the past year, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment.

We have no doubt she will excel in her new role and make a meaningful impact on our borough.
