Covid 19 and SEND
During this challenging time, the school is ensuring that all of our most vulnerable pupils are fully catered for. For SEND pupils in particular, it is an overwhelming period, and for some, particularly our ARP pupils, a confusing and frightening time where familiarity and routine have been replaced by confusion and fear.
Some pupils have been attending as normal throughout the period in an attempt to alleviate anxieties, all others are spoken too weekly by their key worker on an attempt to provide as much normality and dialogue as possible.
Regular scaffolded work has been set and distributed, either electronically or in paper format with support staff on hand to aid those who still require additional input. Pupils have also received effective wellbeing materials to support their understanding and the school has plans for Virtual coffee mornings and Team get-together’s to further develop that sense of a tight community standing together and supporting each other through these challenging times, important life skills which they will take with them into adulthood.
